Event Description: Eugene's Emerald City Roller Derby proudly announces the start of their 11th season on Sunday, February 12th at the Bob Keefer Center for Sports and Recreation (née Willamalane Center). The Emerald City All Stars travel team will play the Rose City Rollers' Fresh Meat. This single game special officially begins the hard-hitting 2017 roller derby season for the Emerald City All Stars as they fight for international rankings. Join us on Sunday, February 12th at the Bob Keefer Center for Sports and Recreation in Springfield. Doors open at 12:00 pm, action starts at 1:00 pm. Tickets $8 advance, $10 door, and $5 for kids 6-10. Emerald City Roller Derby formed in 2007 as Emerald City Roller Girls. The league has been home to over 200 skaters from the Eugene/Springfield in the past 10 years, ranging in age from 9 to 55! Throughout the league's history, skaters have represented ECRD under the team names of Skatesaphrenics, Gloom 'n Doom, Flat Track Furies, Andromedolls, Church of Sk8in, and the Emeralds over the years. Three teams currently skate under the ECRD umbrella: the Emerald City All Stars, the Wizards of Quad, and our siblings on Lane County Concussion. ECRD is home to junior skaters, ages 9-17, who skate for the Emerald City Junior Gems or the Reservoir Dolls. Emerald City Roller Derby's recreational program offers skaters of all skill levels the ability to play roller derby for the T-Recs. Season 11 will provide the opportunity to support every Emerald City Roller Derby team in eight bouts throughout the year! We would like to thank our community for supporting us on our home tracks and for naming us the Best Alternative Sports Team in the Eugene Weekly’s Best of Eugene Reader’s Poll 2016!
