Event Description:
NIGHT FOR SIGHT Benefit Concert Want to have a BLAST on April 30th AND help an amazing cause?! The Give Me Sight Foundation (GMSF) will be hosting its 5th annual Night For Sight event on April 30th. This can’t miss event is an exciting benefit concert that will raise funds for the GMSF’s 2017 sight restoring mission to Myanmar. This has been the 25th year that Dr. John Haines, founder of the GMSF, has led an intrepid surgical team to restore the lives and dignity of economically disadvantaged people on the other side of the world by giving them the gift of sight! During their most successful and recent mission, Dr. Haines and his surgical team returned sight to 290 individuals (133 in Thailand and 157 in Myanmar)! Concert Details John Haines & Friends will open the show with a display of local talents. Familiar favorite songs, culled from the last 50-years of music history, will bring a smile to your face and a tap to your toe. This will be followed by Grammy-nominated Haile & the Moon, who will bring eclectic blends of dreamy music and jazz standards. 2:00: Doors open for pre-show drinks and socialization 3:00-3:50: - Preview of up-coming documentary - Set 1 - John & Friends 3:50-4:05: 15-minute break 4:05-5:00: Set 2 - Grammy Nominated Halie & The Moon 5:30-7:00: After show dinner Prices - Concert only: $25 - Concert + dinner: $100. Documentary Preview While on this mission, a documentary team filmed the touching stories of three cataract patients, their backgrounds, where they lived, and how their cataracts dramatically affected their quality of life - until they were removed by Dr. Haines and his team! To kick off the Night For Sight event, we will present the very first preview! KEZI News Anchors to Emcee the Event! Jennifer Richardson and Bob Schaper, co-anchors for KEZI News have agreed to Emcee the Night For Sight event! Are we privileged or what? Not only did they provide such great on-location news coverage of this year’s mission, but they are helping to bring a beautiful vibe to the Night For Sight event. Both have been very clear that they love what the Give Me Sight Foundation does, and have been so willing to help because it’s for such a great cause. Please make sure to thank them personally for their continued engagement and amazing coverage! To be a part of the fun, book your tickets direct on The Shedd's website (www.theshedd.org) or calling directly at 541 434 7000. Volunteers welcome, please contact Matthew Classen at mattew.allen.classen@gmail.com for more information. All proceeds go to the Give MeSight Foundation, which helps Dr. John Haines and his team purchase surgical supplies and equipment to bring sight to our world’s blind. And if you can't attend this event, but want to donate to our cause, you can do so on our website: http://givemesight.org/about/. Or you can send a check to: Give Me Sight Foundation 1550 Oak Street, Suite 3 Eugene, OR 97405 We can’t wait to see you there!
