Event Description:
The Pain Society of Oregon invites healthcare professionals and people living with persistent pain to participate in an adaptive gardening class. Patients who stay physically active and engaged in something they enjoy are better able to manage their conditions and experience a lower level of pain. By using raised garden beds, specially designed tools, extra-wide walkways and other adaptive techniques, horticultural therapy programs restore a person's connection with the natural world while providing restoration and relief from the stress of illness. Participants will learn about adaptive gardening tools, stretching before and after gardening and develop plans for their gardens for next year. Taught by OSU Extension Service Master Gardeners Adaptive Gardening Specialists: Joseph Balletta, Shirley Betournay and Ma'Carry Cairo. The class is FREE, but please register to ensure there is space available.
