Event Description: On any given evening you will find men, women and children all over the Willamette Valley watching cooking shows, barbeque competitions and reality television. With the current popularity of this type of entertainment, it was inevitable that a cooking competition would pop up in the Eugene/Springfield area. Komos Unlimited, a local event planning and promotion company, is staging the first barbeque competition in the Willamette Valley on August 25th. This one day free event will be sponsored in part and held at the Whiskey River Ranch, 4740 Main Street, Springfield. Local food trucks, restaurants and backyard barbeque enthusiasts will compete in 3 categories (chicken, tri-tip and ribs) for prize money, trophies and bragging rights to the best barbeque in our area! From 10:00 am to 7:00 pm the public can enjoy an outdoor stage with live music, a fully loaded beer garden, a variety of food and product vendors and a selection of local raffle prizes, including a Big Green Egg valued at $1000! To beat the heat, Whiskey River Ranch will also be serving its full menu inside. Judging will be accomplished with the help of a former KCBS judge and a true Texas barbeque expert among others. Competition meat will be judged by appearance, tenderness and taste. Results will be announced at the event around 4:30 pm.
