These three women exemplify community and civic engagement, selfless leadership, and a get-it-done spirit that has helped them accomplish big things in our community. Thank you for your service, and congratulations! A winner from among these three will be announced at the in-person luncheon on November 10th:
Danielle Uhlhorn, Eugene YMCA, Chief Development Officer
Danielle has been a long-standing and involved fixture in this community. From her time at KEZI to McKenzie River Broadcasting, to her role as the Board President at the Y, to her current role of Chief Development Officer, there is no woman I think more highly of in this business community. She has had a huge and significant role in building the new YMCA. On top of that, she is a stand-out human, does not compete with other women, and instead supports and lifts them up, and she advocates for those less fortunate, not just through the Y but through her involvement at Casa and other nonprofits.
Collina Beard, Chief Administrative Officer, Eugene School District 4j
Collina Beard is the kind of leader that encourages you to dream big and think creatively while maintaining a perspective that is truly grounded in community. She is an unwavering advocate for equity and passionate about providing access to people in our community. Collina's work has elevated the importance of addressing equity and racial justice throughout LTD and our community. Collina has taken her role to the next level by creating strategic community connections to help move Lane County forward. One part of that has been joining United Way of Lane County’s Board of Directors to better understand community issues and connect across sectors to find the people and organizations eager to collaborate for a stronger community.
Caitlin Vargas, Startup Community Director, Onward Eugene
Through her career choices, she has served our community by working with Goodwill, the Eugene Mission, Cornerstone Community Housing, and now Onward Eugene - all organizations which support our community's growth and success. Caitlin is a true servant to our community. She currently serves as the Board Chair for Lane Transit District and was recently selected to serve on the board of the American Public Transportation Association where she will undoubtedly bring best practices and innovation back to our community. Through her work at Onward, Caitlin has utilized her relationships to solve major problems affecting our business community. As an example, she recently worked to create a partnership with the Relief Nursery and the Oregon Community Foundation to provide no-cost childcare for entrepreneurs.
A big thank you to everyone who nominated an outstanding woman in business for this award, and we hope to see you at the luncheon!
