The City of Eugene invites community members to learn about and provide feedback on the proposed 24th Avenue Protected Bike Lane Project. City staff will give a presentation followed by time for discussion and questions on December 10th from 6pm-7pm at Roosevelt Middle School.
Protected bike lanes on 24th Avenue would add more space and physical protection between people biking and people driving. This project would require removing the on-street parking between Hilyard Street and Agate Street.
24th Avenue is a primary biking and walking route for three schools, Edison Elementary, Roosevelt Middle, and South Eugene High. It is also nearby the University of Oregon, several retail locations, and the new YMCA. The proximity of schools and parks, a history of crashes, and the speed and volume of vehicles makes 24th Avenue an important candidate for improved safety.
The decision to add protected bike lanes and remove parking on 24th Avenue will be made based on the available data, alignment with City standards and goals, and community input.
Community members can also share their feedback via an online survey. The survey is open through December 20.
