Local Campaign Endorsements
Local Campaign Endorsements
With the May 17 Election Day quickly approaching, here is a review of the Chamber endorsements for contested local races in 2016:
The City of Eugene Mayor - Mike Clark:
Clark has a history of supporting issues important to the Chamber such as economic development, downtown revitalization and critical infrastructure investments.
City Council Ward 1 - Joshua Skov:
Skov has a clear vision for his ward and the community. He shares the Eugene Chamber's priority for downtown revitalization and focus on economic prosperity.
North Lane County Commissioner - Pat Farr:
Farr shares the Chamber's support for responsible additions to the region's industrial land supplies and the need for economic development tools that drive economic prosperity for our region.
EWEB Commissioner Wards 6 & 7 - Sonya Carlson:
Carlson demonstrated a strong understanding of the issues facing the EWEB commissioners and indicated a desire to strengthen relationships with the business community and support economic development initiatives.
In order to arrive at candidate endorsements based on pro-business and pro-jobs criteria, the Chamber's Local Government Affairs Council (LGAC) conducted written and oral interviews with many of the candidates in key races. LGAC then presented its recommendations to the Chamber Board who then decided on endorsements.
