Event Description:
The Woman of Salt project strives to honor and realize opera's potential for catharsis and transformation through community engagement and participation in the operatic medium. The creation, performance and experience of opera can include everyone and should be accessible to all of us. The project will progress through a series of interactive and informal concerts and performances. The opera will be fully produced in June 2017, with workshops in February and April. Join us on the evening of February 10th at Tsunami Books for an intimate concert featuring music samples by three Oregon opera composers and local performers coming together to support Lane Arts Council and the cultural vitality of our community. Through engagement, creation, and sharing, we will collectively enhance our understanding and appreciation of opera's power. Tickets available on a sliding scale of $10-$20 with proceeds benefiting The Woman of Salt project and Lane Arts Council's arts education programs.
