Event Description:
The Emerald Art Center presents "The Twenty Fourth Annual PhotoZone Juried Show." The exhibit is shown from July 3rd through July 27th, 2012. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11-4pm. Reception for the public and the artists will be on SECOND Friday, July 13th from 5-7pm. The PhotoZone Juried Show is a fine art photography exhibit from numerous Western Oregon photographers. The show is sponsored and juried by members of the PhotoZone Group. Also showing, Featured Members, "Mix It Up" by Carol Plaia and "Expressions" by Annetta Becker. Plus work from members of the Emerald Art Center. "Mix It Up" by Carol Plaia is masks, paintings, photo-montage, a complete stage costume and more. Carol Plaia is truly a mixed media artist, and she readily admits to sometimes being mixed-up. She likes to work in textiles, acrylic paints, assemblage, photo-montage, clay, and graphic design. "Expressions" by Annetta Becker is fabric pieces, dolls, watercolors, acrylics, drawings and an accordion booklet of leaf prints. As an artist, Annetta has had the opportunity to express herself in a variety of styles, methods and materials. It is, in fact, hard to pinpoint any particular media of choice as she is always experimenting with something new and different. She had the opportunity to attend the California College of Arts and Crafts, in Oakland, California and graduated, with a BA in art education. Through the years she has taught junior high school, made western jewelry, feathered hatbands, taught preschool, managed an art store, an art director for a silk screen firm, worked in a print shop, designed and sold wearable art, managed a fabric store, and raised three wonderful children.
