Event Description:
Opera is "the celebration of all the arts." Experience its power as the world's most popular French romantic grand opera returns to Eugene for the first time in 25 years. Eugene Opera's production, directed by General Director Mark Beudert, has a cast that reads like a "Who's Who" of young international stars. It features Scott Ramsay (fresh from his appearance opposite superstar Natalie Dessay at the Lyric Opera of Chicago) and Christina Pier, hailed as a "young singer of great potential" by Opera News in last season's Don Giovanni. Joining them will be Metropolitan Opera baritone Aaron St. Clair Nicholson as Valentin and Seattle Opera's Elizabeth Pojanowski as Siebel. Dominating all will be the Mephistopheles of Steven Gallop from London's Royal Opera House, Vienna's Volksopera and Opera Australia. Friday, March 12 at 7:30 pm. Sunday, March 14 at 2:30 pm. Tix: $75, $64, $53, $42, $32, $21; student & youth discounts available.
