Event Description:
Maude Kerns Art Center Presents Art and the Vineyard Festival: Red, White and Rhapsody in Blue! At the 2009 Art and the Vineyard Festival, the Maude Kerns Art Center brings the Oregon Bach Festival (OBF) to the Main Stage for the first time. The 26th annual festival, a fundraiser for the Maude Kerns Art Center, takes place along the banks of the Willamette River in Eugene’s Alton Baker Park. Proceeds from the Art and the Vineyard Festival sustain arts programming at the Maude Kerns Art Center for children and adults throughout the year. On July 4th virtuoso pianist and conductor Jeffrey Kahane and Oregon Bach Festival’s 24-piece ensemble orchestra present a dazzling concert of American classics culminating in Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” as Freedom Festival fireworks light up the skies above Alton Baker Park. Throughout the three-day festival, Main stage entertainment features a variety of sounds to satisfy any musical taste, including hillbilly blues, acoustic pop and folk rock, Americana, and jazz. In addition to the Oregon Bach Festival’s performances on July 4th, the headliners include the Sugar Beets on Friday, July 3rd, and Paul Prince with Chibuku on Sunday, July 5th. Over 150 artists from six states participate in the Artists’ Marketplace, Art For Your Garden, and Special Attractions areas. More than 20 vineyards serve fine Oregon wine, which can be purchased by the glass, bottle, or case. An International Food Court provides a delectable array of our area’s finest flavors. The Youth Art Arena offers hands-on, family-friendly activities, and the Youth Stage provides entertainment for the younger crowd. Admission is $6 per day for adults and $15 for a three-day pass; children ages 6 -11 years are $1; children under 6 years old are free. Parking is available for $3/car at Alton Baker Park on July 3rd and 5th. On July 4th there is free parking at the Slocum Center and at EWEB.
